Thursday 19th November - walk ***** - Landguard circuit – sunny and
cool.
Maggie’s big 60th Birthday last month seemed to pass with not much
celebration and no present from me, then I had a brainwave :) I contacted a
friend and very talented local artist Chris Clover to see if she could do a
painting in her very unique style based on our garden which Mag has spent
many many happy hours in this year of restrictions and lockdown. I got
together with Chris to tell her my ideas, sent her several pics and after
three weeks of painting we finally picked it up today and were absolutely
blown away with it. It was supposed to have been a secret from Mag but she
had seen some of our messages but she said it made it even more exciting
for her. The picture is now shut away in our spare bedroom so the kittens
don’t get their teeth in it waiting for it to be framed. We can’t wait
to get it up on the wall and once again a big thank you to Chris we love it
– check out her work on Facebook you won’t be disappointed:)
So, after picking up our amazing new painting Mag and I continued onto The
Manor carpark but parked free in the road and set off again along the hills
in Landguard Nature Reserve in stunning sunshine but cooler than of late.
There had been flood warnings for this coast and we soon realised that the
sea level was very high, lucky the wind was offshore making the sea very
flat so no floods today:) We made it to Felixstowe view point and the water
level was just under the small jetty, we have never seen that high before!
Again, we said how lucky we are to live in this lovely area and see
something different every day:) We walked onto the small jetty where Mag
spots a seal before carrying onto Landguard beach what little there was
left showing! Several sea fishermen were there with lots of small whiting
being caught! We stopped behind an old wartime building for our very yummy
homemade sausage rolls with a warming cuppa before returning back to the
van and home, another top walk at Felixstowe:)
